Quiz: Is Your Bathroom Cabinet Out of Date?

By Nancy Montgomery
CONSUMER HEALTH INTERACTIVE

If you're like many people, cleaning out your bathroom cabinet isn't high on your priority list. But experts say disposing of expired medications and products at least once a year is a good idea. A telephone survey conducted in 2005 found that one-third of the people surveyed checked the expiration date of over-the counter medications before taking them. Although not every product has to be thrown out the day it expires, manufacturers only guarantee a product's reliability until the expiration date on the label. Making sure that the products in your bathroom cabinet are still useful today may literally save you a headache later. See if you know when to replace these common items.
